Send from Your Device
What This Helps You Do
Section titled “What This Helps You Do”On a supported phone, FSRevs can prepare a personalized request and hand it to the messaging or email app already set up on that phone.
This gives the customer a message from a phone number or email account they may already recognize, while the unique request link still connects their visit and response to FSRevs.
When the Option Appears
Section titled “When the Option Appears”Send from this device is designed for supported phones in the portal’s mobile layout. It may not appear on a desktop, tablet, wide browser window, or unsupported browser.
The available choices depend on your workspace and phone. You may see:
- SMS from this device
- Email from this device
- Both choices
If the option is not shown, you can still use Send through FSRevs.
Send through FSRevs is the default when you have not confirmed another preference on the current browser and device.
Set Up Your Phone First
Section titled “Set Up Your Phone First”Your phone needs to already be ready to send the type of message you choose.
Before using this option, confirm that you can:
- Open your usual messaging app and send a text from your mobile number.
- Open your usual email app and send an email from the account you want to use.
FSRevs does not install or configure those apps, sign you in, or choose which phone number or email account they use. It simply asks your phone to open the appropriate app with a new message prepared. If texting or email is not already working normally on the phone, sending from that device will not work through FSRevs either.
Phones, browsers, and messaging apps do not all handle this handoff in exactly the same way. A supported option may work differently between devices, and some combinations may not work. You can always switch to Send through FSRevs instead.
Send by SMS from Your Phone
Section titled “Send by SMS from Your Phone”- Start a review or form request.
- Fill in the customer and request details.
- Select the Sending from control above the final send button.
- Choose SMS from this device and select Use this sending method.
- Select Continue to SMS.
- Your messaging app should open with the customer’s number and prepared message.
- Review the message, then tap Send in your messaging app.
- When you return to FSRevs, select Yes, I sent it — I’m done.
The message is sent from the mobile number already used by your phone’s messaging app. Customer replies go directly to that number.
Only the customer’s phone number is required for this method. An email address entered elsewhere on the request is not handed to the messaging app.
Send by Email from Your Phone
Section titled “Send by Email from Your Phone”- Start a review or form request.
- Fill in the customer and request details.
- Select the Sending from control above the final send button.
- Choose Email from this device and select Use this sending method.
- Select Continue to Email.
- Your email app should open with the recipient, subject, and plain-text message prepared.
- Review the email, then tap Send in your email app.
- When you return to FSRevs, select Yes, I sent it — I’m done.
The email is sent from the account selected by your phone’s email app. Customer replies go directly to that inbox.
Only the customer’s email address is required for this method. A phone number entered elsewhere on the request is not handed to the email app.
Send from Your Device vs. Send through FSRevs
Section titled “Send from Your Device vs. Send through FSRevs”| From your device | Through FSRevs | |
|---|---|---|
| Sender | Your phone number or email account | Your configured FSRevs sending identity |
| Channels per request | One: SMS or email | Email and SMS when both are available |
| Final send action | You tap send in the other app | FSRevs sends it |
| FSRevs sending allowance | Not used | Used |
| Delivery tracking | Not available | Available |
| Automatic email reminder | Not available | Available for configured review flows |
| Replies | Your phone or inbox | Shared in FSRevs when supported |
| Email format | Plain text | Configured FSRevs email template |
Choose the method that fits the conversation. Sending from your device can feel more personal; sending through FSRevs provides stronger delivery tracking, shared visibility, and reminders.
Direct handoff does not use your FSRevs email or SMS allowance and can remain available when that provider allowance is exhausted. Eligibility, consent, and suppression checks still apply.
What FSRevs Tracks
Section titled “What FSRevs Tracks”FSRevs records the request and the exact message it prepared. In the request’s message history, it appears as Prepared for direct sending with delivery shown as Not tracked.
After the customer opens the unique link, FSRevs can track their visit and response normally. However, it cannot see whether you tapped send, whether the carrier delivered the message, or replies received by your own phone or email account.
Because FSRevs cannot confirm the final send, a later duplicate warning may tell you that the earlier message was prepared and ask whether you want to create another request.
Consent and Suppressed Contacts Still Apply
Section titled “Consent and Suppressed Contacts Still Apply”Sending from your device is not a way to bypass customer preferences. FSRevs still checks the selected contact before preparing the message, and a suppressed or unsubscribed address may be blocked.
Always get permission first. The same consent and good-sending practices apply no matter which app performs the final send. See Deliverability, Consent & Inbox Placement.
If Your App Does Not Open
Section titled “If Your App Does Not Open”Return to FSRevs. The Text message ready or Email ready window lets you:
- Open the messaging or email app again.
- Copy the prepared message.
- Copy the customer’s phone number or email address.
You can paste the copied details into the app yourself. If you leave and return to the request page, FSRevs may restore the ready-to-send window so you can continue.
If sending from the device disappears after rotating the phone or widening the browser, return to a narrow mobile view or switch to Send through FSRevs.
Switch Back to FSRevs
Section titled “Switch Back to FSRevs”Select the Sending from control, choose Send through FSRevs (Default), and select Use this sending method.
Your most recent sending-method choice may be remembered on that device for the next eligible request. Always check the Sending from summary before continuing if the delivery method matters.
Opening the chooser or previewing an option does not change the remembered preference. It changes only after you select Use this sending method.
If the saved direct method is no longer eligible—for example, the browser is now too wide, the channel is unavailable, or the feature is disabled—FSRevs falls back to Send through FSRevs and warns you before the final send.
