Understanding Locations

Locations are the organizational backbone of FSRevs. Think of a location as a physical or logical branch of your business — if you have two offices, one in the North District and one in the South, each office would be its own location.

This allows each branch to operate independently where needed: the North office could focus on Google Reviews while the South office puts more emphasis on growing its presence and feedback on Facebook.

If your business has one location, many things “just work” — your single location is the default context for everything.

If your business has multiple locations, locations become critical because they determine:

  • Which review sites customers see
  • Which branding (logo, colors) appears on customer-facing pages
  • Which team members can access and manage data
  • How flow activity and form responses are filtered and reported
  • Which notification settings apply

Every account has a Primary Location — think of this as your Home Base. It acts as the default anchor for your settings and is the first thing created when you sign up.

The primary location:

  • Cannot be deleted
  • Serves as the default when no specific location is selected
  • Is marked with a visual indicator in the locations list

You can change which location is primary at any time (as long as you have more than one).

Each location has a short location identifier — a human-readable label like “Downtown” or “West Campus” that appears throughout the portal to help you, your team and your customers quickly identify which location you’re looking at.

The identifier is automatically generated from your address during setup, but you can, and should, customize it.

Many features in FSRevs support two scopes:

  • Global — Applies to all locations unless overridden
  • Location-specific — Applies only to one location, overriding the global setting

This pattern appears in:

  • Branding (logo, colors)
  • Review flows
  • Custom forms
  • Review sites / links
  • Smart links
  • Simple pages
  • Public page settings

See Location-Level Overrides for details on how inheritance works.

Each location stores:

  • Name — The business name for this location
  • Address — Full street address (used for display and customer-facing pages)
  • Phone — Location phone number
  • Timezone — Used for notification timing, report dates, and displayed timestamps
  • Location identifier — Short label used to identify a location

The timezone set on a location affects:

  • When scheduled notifications are sent
  • How dates appear in reports and activity logs
  • Due dates for workspace tasks and reminders

If your location’s timezone is wrong, these features will show incorrect times. Double-check it during setup!
